'Good quality, attractive and well made' is the fundamental principle behind all of the Alumen products and key to our range. I wanted to be happy to buy, or to receive them myself, and for them to be sensitive and appropriate to the situation.

When my Mum passed away I looked for an attractive memorial to use at home but couldn't find anything I thought suitable. There were plenty of things around that were nearly right but many were tacky and I couldn't see anything I felt appropriate to Mum's memory. A little frustrated, I eventually created my own - a simple base from a beautiful piece of wood, a candle and a nice photo frame - but the positive response and requests from family and friends convinced me that other people may want similar home memorials too.

With a little help from my husband, we have brought together a range of clean, modern products with the 'good quality, attractive and well made' principle in mind and carefully chosen materials and finishes' that work well together to compliment most surroundings. Some products are our own exclusive designs and so only available from Alumen, but all of the products are attractive and well made. I have also included scented candles in the range - Mum's favourite scent was Lily of the Valley and for me it is so evocative and brings back many lovely memories.
